The Eikan-do temple was my favorite in Kyoto. Although it is known for its spectacular grounds being colored by the autumn leaves, we visited it during the summer. It was still very pretty.

The best temple I'd like to recommend. Though admission fee is the highest as ¥1,000 among other major temples, but obviously truly worth it. No regret. In my case, even better than Kiyomizudera.

It's very peaceful and you can enter the temple and its walkways. Hence this temple is really more about the worship rather than its gardens etc. Loved it!

My favorite temple in Japan. large and peaceful. The Mikaeri Amida is in an unusual pose of looking backwards over his shoulder. It is said that he is waiting for those people left behind.
